Abstract:Abstract: The "Minamata Convention on Mercury" will be gradually implemented. As a standard instrument for temperature measurement, standard mercury-in-glass thermometers are facing phasing out and prohibiting their use. Research on alternative products for standard mercury-in-glass thermometers has become an important direction of current temperature measurement research. This article analyzes the replacement of standard mercury-in-glass thermometers from the aspects of technical requirements, measurement performance, and evaluation methods. As a substitute product, precision digital thermometer can meet the replacement requirements in terms of technical indicators. The evaluation methods of indication error and long-term stability are given. As a representative of technological development and progress, precision digital thermometers are environmentally friendly and easy to use. After passing the assessment and performance evaluation of measurement standards, they can be used as a substitute for standard mercury-in-glass thermometers.
