Abstract This paper discusses the method of average speed measuring short jerky object 1ms each approximate instantaneous speed and the whole movement process; based on a laser rangefinder for calibration device for short distance speed to non-contact measurement was developed; the device's working principle, composition, structure design and data processing procedures, and the practical application of the device are carried out to verify the analysis. The device can move distance (0 ~ 300) mm, (0 ~ 50)m/s speed of displacement of high-speed moving object within m/s for high-speed data acquisition, accurate measurement and analysis of velocity and movement state.
